View Full Version : A Plea for Customisation

A small plea to the administrator.

Please don't install loads of vBulletin hacks, modifications, addons, etc!

I've seen too many forums do this. Adding loads of hacks that they think will make the forum better. Arcade hacks and the like. It genuinely gets annoying and rarely makes a forum original. I know loads of people are going to request these kinds of things, but I like to think people are going to join for the content and the community this place has the potential to offer, not the fact that everytime they post they can earn points to spend in a store to buy new clothes for an RPG character they have on the forums that they can use to fight loads of other members with.

I'd love to see relevent customisations that make the forum more user-friendly and gamer-friendly, but all the hacks I usually see on vBulletin forums go too far a lot of the time.

Don't worry EnderMB, I have it all under control ;).

Good point. Personally I am interested in content and I use forums to blb about my favorite topics and stuff, I'm not here to collect anything.

I agree, keep the content good and keep the site simple.

As far as customisations that are relevent and directly related to the site go, I'd be all for that. I love forums, but they all just feel the same, if you know what I mean. I find the best forums are those which ditch the original look and go for something a bit more user-friendly. Stuff like a thread opened for every review posted for forum members to comment on would be excellent.

Agreed. Some hacks are needed, but others are very pointless.

Any suggestions on which are pointless and which aren't?

In all honesty, vB3 has more than enough already inside it. If there were to be any hacks added, I'd like them to be relevent to the site, as in threads to discuss articles and stuff like that.
