will the novelty of the wiimote ware thin? if it does in the first year and people are advised to get 360 or ps3, could this see an end to nintendo consoles with the ds being the only recent decent console?

It will wear thin only if you see it as novelty.
Nintendo don't want you to see it as that. They want you to see it as advancement. Whilst gaming took the leap into 3D, controllers never really changed much.

I agree with Ender, I don't reckon it will mess up though I aren't sure if they will be able to use the same concept on the next generation because then they may be pushing there luck?

I think the joy of the Wiimote is the fact that, even though it's a brilliant idea thus far, it could become so much more. If this works out, everyone else will use it, and Nintendo can push ahead again and again, improving the gaming experience.

The Wiimote is going to have to be completely flawless if it's to be a success. If it doesn't work exactly how users want/need it to work, it will fall in a heap and could be the downfall of nintendo...

I agree completely. Whether Nintendo likes to admit it or not, they are in competition against Sony and Microsoft, and Nintendo are losing, badly. If anything, I see the Wii as a last stand for Nintendo. If innovation doesn't work for them, what will? They can't keep up a technological arms race with the competition, and they're fully aware of it.
