Will the Wii decide Nintendos future? If the Wii fails to succeed do you think it will be the end of Nintendo as games console devolpers?

Nintendo says it won't be, but I can't see developers wanting to stick around and work for a console that can't keep up anymore. In all honesty, if the Wii doesn't work out I would like to see Nintendo become a third-party developer. They would simply dominate all the consoles with their own games.

Interesting point about the other devolpers but don't you feel that 90% of the best games on a Nintendo console are first party made?

That's exactly Nintendo's problem. No matter how amazing and groundbreaking these games are, they're not going to last forever. The second people choose other games over Mario si the day Nintendo die.
It's the one reason I don't like Nintendo as a developer. I love the comments about how Sony are arrogent with the PS3, but Nintendo have always been extremely arrogent (and wrong a lot of the time).
Nintendo are still in a very strong point, and the argument that as long as Nintendo makes a profit they still have a good reason to continue still stands. However, logically if Nintendo lose popularity, they lose profit. If they lose profit, they lose the only thing keeping them in the business. Popularity is at least three times more important to Nintendo than it is to MS and Sony. Both companies have the finances to make a loss. If Nintendo report a loss, then they're screwed.

No way. Nintendo won't be going anywhere. They can coast by on name alone even if they put out a garbage system. Nintendo has a lot of history, a lot of money, and a lot of name recognition value.

If the Wii bombs then yes, I can imagine Nintendo bombing as well. Afterall, they won't have anything but the DS to market and while I love the DS, sales of it alone will not keep them afloat, not to mention the lost popularity.
