Mansion of the Hidden Souls for SegaCD

Years ago I briefly played 'Mansion of the Hidden Souls' on a rented SegaCD. When I first got a chance to play the Fatal Frame series, particularly the 2nd one, I was amused by how much it reminded me of that game. I remember reading somewhere as well that the creators of the FF series were inspired by 'Mansion'.
So did anyone else play this one and remember it? Heck, did you finish it? Me, I never did, got stuck on the candleabra puzzle.

I remember owning it, but I can't remember ever playing it. The Sega CD didn't last long enough for me to really bother with it.
