First off many people said this wasn't goign to be a game. The good news is not only is it a game the size of the staff has escalated siginificantly. They now have a 30 person team from another studio helping, 3D graphics crew is also helping out, and THERE IS A PUBLISHER...but they aren't telling who just that it's not Atlus or Majesco, and finally they're working with pyschologists and horror authors to get more out of the game.
They want every little choice you make to stick with you throughout the journey. Also there are no HUD or in-game menus and the save system is invisible to the player. Finally the controller is going to totally utilized. Reaching out and grabbing an umbrella was the only example they gave. Immersive sems to be the idea here.
Over on IGN Wii you read about it for yourself and download some music.
You all know this is the most mature Wii game yet. Mature as in not just a run of the mill intense shooter with gore (which this isn't there are not many enemies according to Nibris the developer.) but will be an extremely graphic game instead.
As to why the game is in black and white there are 3 reasons:
-Its represents film of the time period. (1910ish)
-It made the graphics look better, according to Nibris.
-Finally, they know its going to be a niche product.
One other thing seems aparent to me here. Nintendo wants to keep it simple, this company is basically a second party but not by contract and they seem to be following suit. Not that overall the game is simple. But the invisible save system, no in game menus, and no HUD seems to be keeping it simple. (yet in this case it also seems more realistic too.)
