They may be real, wrecked machines, but there's a lot of speculation going around forums, blogs, and other sites that these pictures are all fake. There really shouldn't be any reason why a laptop should just blow up. Most of the explosions apparently are down to the batteries leaking. Batteries usually just don't leak without there being a problem beforehand.
